Bachelor’s Degree: Psychology, Pontifical Catholic University, Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Joanne is a Doctoral Intern from Puerto Rico conducting therapy services at MiraCare. She is in the final year of her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Ponce Health and Sciences University. Over the past years, she’s had a variety of experiences in different healthcare settings, providing therapy in both Spanish and English. These include pediatric and general hospital work in the ER, PICU, NICU, and Rehab Unit. Joanne also worked with outpatient services for children and adolescents, conducting psychological assessments and therapy with various backgrounds and symptoms. She incorporates a humanistic approach into her therapy sessions, seamlessly blending in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) while adapting her methods to the specific needs of each individual regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity (LGBTQIA+). Joanne is profoundly driven to specialize in working with children and adolescents as a psychologist. Guiding and supporting young minds through their distinct challenges and developmental phases is a passion that resonates deeply with her. Observing these individuals’ growth, resilience, and positive changes brings her immense satisfaction and reinforces her dedication to making a meaningful difference in their lives.
During her free time, Joanne enjoys taking her adopted dog, Mila, for walks. In addition, she enjoys physical activity such as Pilates, running, yoga and CrossFit.
