Dr. Slater joined MiraCare in 2020. She has had the opportunity to work with patients across ages, race, gender, sexual orientation, and SES; and with a wide range of presenting problems. She has experience training and working in a variety of settings including private practice, neuropsychological testing, a VA hospital, and community mental health. She often uses cognitive behavioral interventions but utilizes an integrated approach to meet patients where they are. Dr. Slater believes that everyone’s needs are different and evolving and is committed to helping facilitate change wherever a patient is in that process. She conceptualizes problems and treatment through a health psychology lens to consider all aspects of health, including emotional, physical, social, environmental, and behavioral, to help patients improve their quality of life and functioning. She believes it is imperative to collaborate with other providers and supports in patients’ lives to find ways that best promote healing.
Dr. Slater loves to travel and work with people across cultures, and values the diversity that makes each person unique. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, watching movies, yoga, hiking, and running around with her children and feisty terrier.
