Annie Fergus is a clinical psychology doctoral student studying at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. She is doing her doctoral internship at MiraCare working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Over the past four years, she has provided therapy in diverse settings, including community college, an alternative high school, a community mental health clinic, and a psychiatric hospital running DBT groups for patients in the Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient programs. She approaches case formulation through a psychodynamic lens, integrating DBT tools for symptom relief when needed. She has experience supporting clients across the lifespan with concerns such as mood disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, complex trauma, and substance abuse. Annie appreciates working in a multidisciplinary team as she has a value of wrap-around care for those with the highest needs. In addition, Annie is passionate about understanding the intersection between psychology and current societal issues affecting young adults. Her dissertation explores the psychological impact of viewing traumatic or disturbing content on social media. With young people online more often, she hopes to use this to inform treatment and understand the challenges they face on a daily basis.
