Benji Gertin is a fifth-year doctoral intern in clinical psychology at MiraCare, where he is providing therapy and assessment services during the 2024-2025 training year. He has provided individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in settings ranging from inpatient psychiatric hospitals to outpatient private practices and academic medical centers. His clinical experience includes supporting individuals impacted by a wide range of mood and behavioral concerns, as well as those with significant trauma.
Benji’s therapeutic approach is grounded in behavioral modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), while integrating psychodynamic, existential, and play-based approaches when they best serve the patient’s needs. He places particular emphasis on improving people’s relationships with their thoughts and feelings to live more fulfilling and meaningful lives. He prioritizes relational care through accurate empathic understanding, authenticity, and playfulness, fostering a space where all persons feel seen and supported. Benji is committed to meeting each individual where they are, tailoring his approach to meet their unique goals and sociocultural backgrounds so that therapy makes sense and is personally relevant.
Outside of his clinical work, Benji enjoys playing hockey and chess, attending live music events, exploring museums, and spending time with family and friends – ideally not all in the same afternoon.
