Dr. Ellen Geddes is a Post Doctoral Fellow providing trauma-informed, outpatient therapy at the Mokena office. She enjoys working across the lifespan, providing therapeutic services to children, adults, couples and families. Her prior training has served clients in numerous settings: juvenile detention, therapeutic day schools and in private practice. She challenges clients to envision and create more satisfying relationships with themselves and others. She draws from a strong foundation in cognitive, emotional, and somatic practices to help clients work through anxiety, depression and life transitions. Her integrated approach supports clients in developing a greater capacity to face difficulties at work, school or home. She meets her clients where they are with a curiosity about the experiences that have shaped them. Ellen enjoys working with individuals from varied ethnic backgrounds and is an ally to individuals with intersecting cultural, spiritual, gender, and sexual identities.
Ellen has completed a three -year training as a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner to support clients in addressing unresolved trauma (shock or relational). She uses the neurobiological approach of Somatic Experiencing and the body’s innate ability to restore and release activation from past overwhelming events without retraumatizing the client through retelling the event.
In her free time, Ellen enjoys spending time with friends and family, art quilting, exploring Chicago and being in nature.
