Lainey is a Doctoral Intern conducting therapy at MiraCare. She is currently in the final year of her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Nova Southeastern University. Lainey has worked with people of all ages in multiple settings, including outpatient and hospital environments (i.e., acute, and inpatient hospitalization). She also has experience conducting psychological assessments with children, adolescents, and adults with various backgrounds and presenting symptoms. Furthermore, she has administered evaluations and assessments of cognitive impairments and psychotherapy to assist patients with coping and adjustment to their chronic injuries. In addition to rendering mental status evaluations to individuals with serious health conditions in an inpatient setting, she has conducted motivational therapy on adults and children with long-term mental illnesses and chronic medical conditions.

Although she considers herself a generalist, she is particularly interested in treating ADHD, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and PTSD. As a therapeutic tool, Lainey uses an integrative lens, although she often pulls from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an approach centered around increasing psychological flexibility. She believes that a great deal of human suffering results from avoiding thoughts and emotions, which can ultimately lead to feeling “stuck.” Lainey focuses on steps and actions one can take to get “unstuck” and fully contact the present moment. She believes that values-based work allows clients to take positive steps toward their desired life. Lainey feels honored and committed to nurturing clients’ growth by staying present during her sessions and holding a safe place for clients for emotional processing and values-based activity.

In her free time, Lainey loves to spend quality time with her partner, friends, and family. In addition, she enjoys listening to crime podcasts, Zumba classes, cooking, swimming, and playing with her puppy Maggie.
